Do I need cell service to use the IQ panel 5? My home has Wifi through Starlink, but does not have reliable cell coverage. Will this work with Wifi only?
Wifi functions as concurrent backup signaling when enabled, so everything that would be sent via the primary cellular radio is sent by wifi as well, but there is no way to eliminate cellular connectivity expectations. The panel and Alarm.com account assume a cell connection and will throw errors if there is no cell connection.
Cellular is the primary method and the panel is registered to an Alarm.com account via its cellular radio IMEI.
For a Wifi only security option using Alarm.com, we recommend the new nami system. nami is a lightweight inexpensive system using Wifi sensing technology.

Not yet, but it is a high priority, and this is an expanded capability we have requested from the nami team..
They are working on an audio listener (like the Firefighter) that listens for interconnected smoke detectors and reports to the alarm system. It’s something you will be able to add to the system when it’s available.
