Hello, I just purchased a New two gig SMKT 8–345 smoke detector and tried to add it to my 2gig gc3.
All went well, but during testing the smoke detector it’s not showing on the panel as triggered.
Is the detector faulty?
How are you testing the smoke detector? If using the test button it typically needs to be held for 8-10 seconds for multiple three-pulse sirens to send a signal to the panel. Make sure your account is on test mode (either in Alarm.com or in our system manager here) if you have professional monitoring to avoid accidental dispatch.
I am holding the test button for 20 seconds.
No response from panel.
I have some older smoke detectors as soon as I remove them from the base, I get a sound from the panel that the smoke detector has been tampered with.
With this one I don’t have any tamper message when removing it from the base. Or when I hold the test button for 20 seconds right next to the panel still nothing showing trigger.
Is this the detector labeled Second Floor Smoke Detector?
If it is the SMKT8 it is using the wrong loop for smoke detection it looks like. It should be Loop 1 in programming for smoke detection. The SMKT8 uses Loop 2 for the heat detector only.
Also double check the 7 digit TXID on the sensor and make sure it matches what is in programming for that sensor. It will typically be on a sticker on the back of the detector.
It looks like the equipment code may be off too. For some reason that particular zone is reporting an equipment code of 2058, which is for the e-series version of the sensor.
The regular SMKT8 (non e-series version) should be equipment code 1058.
I used to learn function where I triggered the smoke detector and it automatically picked up the serial number
You were right about loop two I don’t know how that was programmed. I thought it was Loop 1, but I changed it to loop 1.
