Nest Thermostat malfunctioning - disable from ADC to test?

Hi-

We have a Nest thermostat. At some point after it was added to our ADC system (Living Room Thermostat), it began malfunctioning. For example, it shows that it’s in cooling mode and the fan is running, but it’s not prompting the condenser to kick on so we’re not getting cool air. However, if we reboot the thermostat or change it to heating mode and back to cooling, that will trigger the condenser to kick on and we get cool air. We’re kind of tired of coming home to a 90-degree house and having to reboot then wait 2 hours to get it cooled back down every day though…

We set up a thermostat schedule on the Nest app, but on subsequent logins, the schedule will have mysteriously added new change points at weird times and temps. We’re wondering if maybe the ADC system is sending data to the Nest that’s overriding our schedule and/or confusing the thermostat into not triggering the condenser to run. To test that theory, we’d like to take the thermostat off of our ADC system and give it a few days to see if the problem continues. Is there any easy way to disable/re-enable myself, or do you have to do that on your end?

Thanks.

Currently, Nest thermostats cannot be removed from Alarm.com via the end user. Only the dealer can do that.

Note that Google has ended their “Works with Nest” program. This also means that the ability to connect non-Google platforms like Alarm.com has been affected as well.

The “Works with Nest” program will be replaced by Google Smart Device Management or “Works with Google Assistant,” and Alarm.com will be adopting this new program soon thereafter.

Long story short, should you decide to remove the Nest thermostat, it does not appear that you will be able to re-enable it with your Alarm.com account until such time that the “Works w/ Google Assistant” integration is up and running.

Knowing that, please let me know if you would still like to remove that device.

Thanks for the explanation, Tyler. Please do go ahead and remove the Nest thermostat from my account. We don’t really do anything with it through ADC anyway, given the functionality is so limited. Appreciate your help!

Absolutely. Commands have been sent to remove the Nest thermostat. Please allow about five minutes for those commands to take effect. You might need to log out of ADC and then back in to see the changes.
