I am sure my cellular modules are locked on my 2 panels by my current unsupportive dealer, and I want the easiest transition to you from my unsupportive dealer. So is it best that I buy 2 new cellular modules ?
In general, this page will go over everything you will need for 2GIG.
If you are certain you will need a new module, yes, new modules would be needed and they can be purchased through our website. Verizon. ATT
If you need to update firmware (ATT Modules require 1.9.6 or higher firmware, Verizon 1.9.5) as well, this package includes everything, first month of service as well.
How do I upgrade the firmware? One panel has an att module and the other in another state has a verizon module. So I will order one of each. Can the alarm.com account I have for these two panels be transferred to you so I dont have to enter all the devices again?
How do I upgrade the firmware?
In the step by step link above there is a video tutorial. See below:
If you were previously using 3G modules, you wouldn’t necessarily need to update firmware right away if you are just looking to get connected quickly, because the panels would already have the basic firmware requirement at least. Do you know if the ATT module was 3G? (All VZ modules are) I would typically recommend updating though.
Can the alarm.com account I have for these two panels be transferred to you so I dont have to enter all the devices again?
It will be a brand new Alarm.com account. The existing would not be transferred.
This does not affect local device programming. Sensors would remain the same. If you had specific notifications or automation rules in Alarm.com they would need to be recreated though.
Not transferring alarm.com info is a large impediment. Perhaps ask if they would make a concession?
My att unit is 2gig-3ga-a
There is no concession to be made in this case unfortunately. It would be a brand new account.
When connecting to service, the local sensor and automation device programming is propagated in the new Alarm.com account as they are in the panel.
What would need recreated are ADC automation rules, users, and notifications.
