We are moving into a new home that has a current system that was installed by Guardian and monitored through Alarm.com. It appears they have a Concord 4, but the serial number (IMEI) is only 14 numbers. Is there any way this compatible with Surety?
The Concord4 is compatible, so long as it has an unregistered, Alarm.com compatible, 4G LTE cellular module.
Concord 4 modules are separate devices that are mounted outside of the alarm panel can, either nearby or run farther to an outer wall or attic, wherever the best signal is.
Opening the white plastic cover will reveal the module itself. You should find a 15-digit cellular module number printed on a sticker in the format SN:XXXXX-XXXXXXXXXX
The attached image is of the keypad, not the panel itself. The panel is mounted inside a metal can (typically tan) and is usually located elsewhere, away from the keypad. The module would be mounted near the can in most cases.
That is a serial number label on the panel. That number is not related to the cell module.
The IMEI is found on the cell module itself. It would usually be close to the panel can and look like this with the cover on:
Is there a chance that I don’t have one of these? I cannot find it anywhere. Is there any other way that the system can be connected other than by cellular module?
Sorry if that is a dumb question, I’m kind of a novice at these alarm systems currently.
It’s possible that you don’t have one. The system could have been monitored by land line or internet. It’s also possible you do have one but it’s located somewhere else to get a better cellular signal. But it would have to be one of those.
Can you post a pic of the entire main control panel showing the wire connections?
A land line would be connected to the 4 terminals on the far right. So that’s not it.
If you have a communicator it would be on the keypad bus which is terminals 3-6 from the left, labeled GND, +12V, and BUS. Try to follow those wires and see if one of those cables leads you to the communicator.
Was able to get the system up and running today. Finally found the cellular module.
I signed up for the central monitoring however my certificate doesn’t show fire monitoring. The house has wired smoke detectors which I assume are connected to the system. Is there a way to tell through the Concord panel?
If not, would the best bet be to buy the FireFighter Audio detector?
You can see your devices/sensors/zones in Alarm.com. If you don’t see smokes there then they’re not connected to your panel.
Usually hardwired smoke detectors aren’t connected to the security system unless they’re a special model made for security alarms.
If they’re not being monitored, yes, a FireFighter audio detector is the easiest and cheapest way. That’s assuming your system supports wireless sensors and your smoke detectors are all connected to each other.
If not, would the best bet be to buy the FireFighter Audio detector?
There are no devices programmed as smoke detectors on your system, if you have interconnected smoke detectors that all sound when one goes off, then the Firefighter is a cost effective way to monitor all of those smoke detectors with a single device.
Great. Thanks. I ordered one and will try to get it set up.
