From my previous alarm.com my garage door openers are already registered. This is preventing me from registering the MyQ garage door openers into this account. How can I remove or transfer them?
Registration was unsuccessful for this device. It may be registered to a myQ account. Please remove the device from myQ or factory reset the device, then reconnect to an internet network and try registering again.
If your openers are still registered on a previous Alarm.com account only the dealer that account was through can delete them. Reach out to that dealer if you believe this is the case.
That registration would also be deleted when the old Alarm.com account is deleted.
Other situations which can cause a similar issue:
- The MyQ setup instructions from Chamberlain have you connect the device to the MyQ app. If you have the doors registered in the MyQ app they would need to be deleted from there first.
- The MyQ gateways may not have their internal data cleared properly when they were removed from prior accounts. This would require a factory reset.
Thanks Jason for the response - my previous Alarm.com provider has claimed that my account has been deleted which I believe puts me into the factory reset territory. I believe factory resetting my garage doors though will require me to reprogram my garage door openers correct?
Yes a factory reset will remove any wireless fobs/visor buttons. Those would need to be paired again.
