MyQ Integration

I just linked my new MyQ-enabled garage door opener to my Alarm.com account.

Is it possible to use the garage door as an alarm-triggerable “sensor” such that opening the garage door without using the Alarm.com site/app would trigger the alarm similar to a door/window contact sensor?

Also, is it possible to configure a garage door open event through the Alarm.com site/app to automatically disable the alarm system?

My garage is detatched from my house but I do have traditional sensors in the garage connected to the system. I would like to add a motion sensor to the garage but I believe the motion sensor would detect the garage door opening and trigger the alarm if these garage door integration features do not exist.

Thank you

To do this you would need to add a sensor which communicates with the alarm panel at your location. MyQ cannot be set to trip alarms as it does not communicate with the panel.

One of the first two options listed here would work.

For security reasons, no that is not available. Automation actions disarming the system must be created by local presence (like entering a code at a Z-wave door lock)

The best option to use for monitoring a garage overhead door as an alarm sensor would be the second option in the link above. The 4532L and a wireless sensor with a wired input is what I would recommend. This gives you a sensor that will trip after only a few inches of the door opening, which can initiate a delay countdown.

However, since this is a detached garage, I would say you may have trouble since the entry delay on panels has a maximum value, and that your best bet may be to rely on remotely disarming prior to entry into garage.
