Migration of Fully Operable System to Surety - No Cameras

Hi - I have moved from another provider to Surety - everything worked as it should at the other provider. I have surety complete and an 8 camera service - none of my 8 cameras are visible through the web or the app.

Do I really have to reconnect and recommission all the cameras again (some are really difficult to physically get to) - or am I missing some simple trick?

Yes, Alarm.com cameras are connected to your Alarm.com account so if you canceled your old account and created a new Alarm.com account with Surety then you have to add them to your new account and configure the recording rules.

The alarm system works differently because its settings are stored in the control panel itself instead of in the Alarm.com account so they are still there when you add the alarm system to your new account.

The only way to switch Alarm.com providers and not have to add your cameras to the new account is if your Alarm.com account is transferred from the old provider to the new provider, keeping the same Alarm.com account. But that requires the old provider to be willing to transfer your account and many won’t do that.

For anyone else reading this - a few tips.

Wireless cameras are easy enough to re-register, just start the normal reregistration white light flashing process. It takes quite a few minutes for setup and do not leave the app screen or move your phone away during that process.

I have a local SVR with 4 turret cameras that are PoE also - it took me a while to figure out that you need to re-register the SVR with Alarm.com using the mac address of the unit, then you also need to do a power cycle to get alarm.com to see the SVR. Once that is done the cameras need to be recalibrated.

My own fault - I should have researched this before .. but now I know setting up the cameras would have taken my an hour at worst case.
