I can confirm the GD00Z-1: Lowes Iris model does work with the latest firmware from 2gig and is fully compatible with alarm.com

I do have a quick question. Is there a way to make an audible notification with this type of zwave device when it opens like a normal door or window sensor?

Zwave devices do not annunciate (chime) like security sensor zones. Either install a tilt sensor, or overhead garage door reed switch to accomplish that.

I have a 2GIG Go Control Panel monitored by Vivint (until my contract is up in 6 months!). Firmware is ‘latest’ according to them, v1.9. I purchased the Iris GD00Z-1, and it paired to my panel as an “Entry controller” but it is unable to poll the device state.

My Vivint web app properly identifies it as a Garage door controller, and shows :

Garage (ID:8)
Device state unknown
Garage Door

Any ideas on how I can proceed to get this paired and working? I haven’t reached out to Vivint just yet, but I can’t imagine they’ll be eager to help me add a non-sanctioned device to my account.

Unfortunately, Zwave garage controllers with 2GIG GO Control panels require a more recent firmware version for full functionality. The GD00Z-1 requires 2GIG firmware 1.13 for use through Alarm.com

Thanks Tyler. I had read about the FW requirements on the previous pages but didn’t know if Vivint used a different versioning for theirs. I guess Vivint’s firmware is behind the curve (significantly). I plan on replacing the cell module in my panel and breaking away from Vivint as soon as my contract is up.

The good thing is that I only paid $11 for this GD00Z-1 (brand new, from Lowe’s!) so I’m not out much. In the meantime, I cracked it open and noticed that there are UART headers for both the PIC and the ZWave chip, as well as ICSP headers for both chips. This could be fun to tinker with in my free time!

Hi, I read through this thread, and I’m trying to understand how the GD00Z-4 integrates with a 2gig panel. I see it comes with a tilt sensor. Can the tilt sensor be used for security sensing activities on the panel or it is only used by the GD00Z as a way to know if the door is up or down. I would like for a garage door open activity to set off an alarm on Arm Stay. Or would I need an additional tilt sensor for this?

No, the tilt sensor is associated directly to the GD00Z and is not used as a security sensor.

An additional sensor on the door would be needed for standard alarm purposes.
