Low Battery Alert - ADC-T2000

Hi - I have 2 ADC T2000 Thermostats in my home. (Upstairs and Downstairs)

Downstairs reported a critical low battery alert.
I replaced the batteries with brand new ones.
I then received (about 24hours later) the notification that the critical battery alert had been resolved. Nice. Normal Behavior - Right?

Now I am getting the same critical low battery alert for the same thermostat. When I view the thermostat on the alarm panel, I see the low battery icon.

For grins, I changed the batteries again with brand new ones. No change in behavior. I forced the panel to rediscover my network. No change in behavior.

Perhaps something needs to be cleared/reset on the backend?

Thoughts?

Thanks!

A couple general things to get out of the way just in case:

Did you replace all 4 batteries? This must be done, if you only replace some of the batteries and leave any old ones in you will see this issue.

What is the date code on the new batteries you added?

Is this thermostat connected to a C-wire at all or is it only running on battery? It looks like the thermostat settings have the display enabled at all times, this should only be on if the device has AC power, otherwise it should turn off the display in between usage.

Typically you should see about a year or more of usage before going low again, unless there is something wrong with the batteries or something is wrong with the Tstat/settings.

Try removing all the batteries and leaving the device unpowered for two full minutes.

Then insert the batteries and power up the device. Any change?

Hey Jason! Thanks for the response and suggestions. Add’l info:

1: This TS is connected to a C wire. The batteries have been fine for right at a year (I installed them prior to Christmas last year)

2: The new batteries (I replaced all 4) are date stamped Feb 2030.

3: This morning, I removed the batteries and waited two minutes before reinstalling.

4: The low battery icon is still visible on the panel. How long before the network refreshes that information?

Of course, the upstairs thermostat has no issues.

hi

Does the thermostat itself indicate low battery on its display?

No sir!

I’m thinking that status is just stuck at the panel side. Can you try a power cycle of the panel? Unplug transformer (from outlet) then battery. Wait a minute, then plug in battery followed by transformer.

Hi - I did a complete restart: Removed wall power and unplugged the battery for about 5 mins. Reconnected and restarted panel. Same low battery alert for the downstairs thermostat on the panel.

I then removed the thermo completely from the zwave network.

Placed new batteries (again) in the thermo and added it back to the zwave network. Great news - I no longer have a low battery icon on the panel for the thermo!

However - I still see the “downstairs” thermo in my ADC app/profile. ADC thinks there are now 3 thermos. 2 down / 1 up. Can you remove / re sync for me?

Thanks!

Happy to! I sent some resync commands and a network rediscovery to your system and the additional downstairs TSTAT was removed.

You can send z-wave resync commands yourself via the System Manager feature of your Surety account now as well, should you need to in the future.

Awesome! Appreciate it Tyler. I was not aware of that feature where I could send the re-sync myself. Thank you!

No problem! You can also send remote panel reboot commands from there and make changes to your service plan as well. Have a great day!
