Louder Door Chime Ideas

I just bought the doorbell chime from 2Gig and it now plays through my main panel and TS-1’s.

I find it just too quiet, especially if a TV is on or something like that.

I was thinking of having it trigger a zwave device that would be loud enough but not too loud.

All I can find are those siren strobe combinations, but they seem to be pretty loud for in doors. I could also plug something into a z-wave switch so that would expand my opitions.

Looking to you guys for suggestions

The relay on one of these Mimolites can be set to either latching or momentary, and you could run power through to a sounder directly, or you can find an announcing device that operates based input terminals or button.

Ideally, you would have a self-contained announcing device with an input trigger, the Mimolite set to momentary operation, then whenever the Doorbell is pressed, ADC rule makes the Mimolite “press” the announcer button.

Otherwise, you could use a standard Wired door chime with 16v transformer, run one of the transformer wires through the Mimolite, same principle applies. ADC rule momentarily turns on Mimolite when doorbell button is pressed, mimicking an actual wired doorbell button with the chime.

Thanks. Any recommendations for the actual sounding device?

You may already have one in the house somewhere that was used before the intercom, but a standard doorbell like this should work.

Has there been new products to make the mimolite suggestion you posted here easier?

Maybe it’s not that hard but not sure minilites are still available? Could you “dumb this down” to explain hooking up? Is it just a matter of hooking up a few wires?

If you are trying to make use of a Video Doorbell now, not a doorbell button (using your other posts here as examples) then the same options would not apply.

The Mimolite suggestion was a work-around based on sensor activity monitoring using that doorbell button.

With the video doorbell, if you have any existing wiring, such as from an intercom, I would recommend installing a new mechanical or digital chime.
