I am looking to replace my existing wired/wireless Honeywell Vista 40 system.
Since the system is pushing 20 years old, I am thinking of replacing rather than upgrading.
I have a 1800sq ft house with the following:
2 wired panels
3 wired recessed door sensors
2 wired motion sensors
1 wired indoor siren
4 wireless glass break sensors
1 wireless smoke detector
1 wireless garage door sensor
2 key fobs
My first question is… do I go with Qolsys S-line or PowerG sensors?
For Qolsys S-Line my parts list would look like:
1 IQ Panel 4 (319.5MHz Verizon)
1 IQ Remote PowerG Secondary Panel
3 IQ Recessed Door Sensor or IQ Mini Door/Window Sensor
2 IQ Motion Detector
1 Indoor Siren ??? — What options do I have?
4 IQ Glass Break Detector
1 IQ Smoke Detector
1 Garage Door Sensor ??? — Can I use a window sensor? I have Liftmaster IQ
2 IQ Remote Key Fob
For PowerG, I would replace the IQ sensors with available PowerG versions.
*** Am I missing anything? Thoughts? Thanks in advance!
Here is a good thread discussing IQ S-Line vs PowerG:
You can mix and match, no need to go all one or the other. PowerG is great for the extra range and I would recommend it if budget allows.
Indoor Siren ??? — What options do I have?
The PG9901 would be recommended.
Garage Door Sensor ??? — Can I use a window sensor? I have Liftmaster IQ
IQ Tilt sensors are commonly used. The Liftmaster garage cannot be used as an alarm sensor, but you can set up notifications based on its status, which may be all that you need depending on your intention.
No, we do not sell those two devices at this time, though that is not an implication of quality. They are available online from various vendors. We offer devices based on demand and availability through our distributor partners.
