Leaving CPI Questions

Hello. I am currently a CPI customer; all their equipment is run through alarm.com I intend to leave them and sign up here. I currently have the 2GIG GC2 panel. I intend to upgrade that immediately to the IQ4. My questions are:

  1. The IQ4 will be able to add all my current alarm.com CPI products, correct?

  2. What do I need to say to CPI to properly terminate with them and have all the equipment open to be able to accept the new IQ4 panel?

  3. In the future I would like to add more home automation and newer cameras…Once I’m setup with the IQ4 panel I should be able to shop around for newest tech? What do I need to look for? Just zwave compatibility?

I highly recommend that u write down the mac infor of each camera u currently have and then delate them off ur current Alarm.com account as some dealers won’t actually delate the account they will just lock u out when u cancel so delate the cameras off before u call so that u know u will be able to use them on ur new account I would just call give them a 30 day notice

If you have a standard 2GIG GC2 and non-E series sensors, the sensors would be compatible with the 345 Mhz version of the IQ Panel 4 below, not the 319.5Mhz version in our bundles.

What do I need to say to CPI to properly terminate with them and have all the equipment open to be able to accept the new IQ4 panel?

For info on how to cancel with your current provider, please be sure to contact your provider. I cannot give reliable advice on any other provider’s policies.

Standard 2GIG sensors don’t need any special treatment or consideration though, besides just being sure they aren’t the encrypted models. They can be learned into any panel at any time. They don’t need to be deleted from the old panel.

In the future I would like to add more home automation and newer cameras…Once I’m setup with the IQ4 panel I should be able to shop around for newest tech? What do I need to look for? Just zwave compatibility?

A good list of various officially supported automation devices and camera models is found here. Sticking to the products on this page will ensure it is tested and supported by Alarm.com.

Thank you for the info. Just a couple of follow ups…

  1. How do I know if I have a regular panel or E series? I have the Imei # but I can not get results from your “can I activate my equipment” website due to it being registered with CPI still.

  2. The alarm.com website has two external cameras listed as compatible equipment (V723x & V724x). Those are my only two options? No camera/floodlight options?

How do I know if I have a regular panel or E series? I have the Imei # but I can not get results from your “can I activate my equipment” website due to it being registered with CPI still.

The IMEI cannot tell this. The same Cell module is used for regular GC2s and the GC2e.

Does your panel look exactly like the GC2e shown on this page? It is a GC2e

Or does it look exactly like the panel in this image? It is a GC2

The alarm.com website has two external cameras listed as compatible equipment (V723x & V724x). Those are my only two options? No camera/floodlight options?

There are no floodlight options. Compatible cameras are listed here. There are two currently sold outdoor Wifi options. There are other POE models lower on the page.

The Alarm.com Floodlight Camera is available now.
