Keypad Tamper Alarm, A Digit is "Stuck" on Disarm

Overnight last night I encountered a Keypad Tamper Alarm.

Coincidentally I have recently noticed that when I go to disarm my armed system, one of the digits does not register despite me pressing it with the same force that I press the other digits with. If I apply extra pressure, this digit activates. Digit not provided for security reasons.

What could be causing this issue? I do not think it is the same as the Panel Tamper issue I have seen elsewhere on this forum.

Just to be sure, is this on a system connected to your Surety account?

It looks like the panel associated with Surety for you is an IQ Panel 4. The IQ Panel 4 is a capacitive touchscreen, it is not a resistive touchscreen, so pressure shouldn’t change the effect, though it may widen the area being touched when pressing harder on the screen.

Is that the only code having trouble? If you enter the installer code for example when accessing Advanced Settings and do that 5 times in a row, does it pick up the code input easily?

This issue does occur when I access Advanced Settings. I entered the same code when going to that area as I use to disarm the system. I did that several times and was able to reproduce consistently.

Further troubleshooting tells me that it is a very specific physical area of that digit. The center and perhaps top corners of it do not press as easily, while the bottom right of the digit works as normal.

Is this defective hardware?

I do see your panel being on firmware version 4.2.1. Could you update the panel to the latest version 4.5.2 to rule out any software issues?

To do this, you will need to do this in increments. You will have to do this by first updating to 4.3.0 > 4.4.2 > 4.5.2

Instructions to perform each update are under each firmware release information in the link below.

Next, you are having issues with your panel tamper as well. This is a small switch on the inside of the wall that is pressed down when installed properly.

If you remove the panel from the wall, does the screen still have the issue? You can remove the panel from the wall by loosening the screw under the panel and then pulling the bottom of the panel away from the wall towards you.

Make sure the back plate is not flexing and is sitting flushed on the wall. Sometimes over tightening the screws on the back plate can cause it to flex.

It looks like the updates fixed my digit unresponsiveness. Thank you!

I will keep an eye to see if the panel tamper warning comes up again, it could have been a byproduct of the other issue. I have not opened the panel after it was installed so low chance of something being wrong with that.
