Issue with iPhone Alarm.com app

iPhone app displays message " Error: An unexpected error occured. Please try again." The alarm.com web site login works properly and the log tells me there was a successful mobile login for each time the phone app is failing.

Happy to assist! How long has this issue been occurring?

Have you tried power cycling the phone?

Is the Alarm.com mobile app up to date? Which version are you currently utilizing?

Try removing the mobile app, then downloading the newest version, does this fix the issue?

Thanks so much for transferring this request to the tech form and closing the ticket with no idea if the customer was satisfied with the result.

Prior to sending the first request for assistance, I had already 1] rebooted my iPhone 2] made sure I had the current version of the app, and 3] uninstalled and reinstalled the Alarm.com app… so the response on the forum was absolutely worthless, and I am still unable to use the alarm.com app

We are happy to help address further, but our technical support occurs here, and you would only need to follow up with this info.

Unfortunately this is not a known issue, and the error message is not specific. To best assist, we will need a bit more info:

  1. What model of iPhone is being used?
  2. What IOS version are you running?
  3. Based on your original statement, are you seeing the error message as soon as you click to login on the credentials screen?
  4. Did this start on the day this issue was originally posted, or did it occur prior at all?
  5. Have you tried turning off 2-Factor Authentication under settings - login information? It looks like that is enabled for the login in question.
  6. Have you tried a different login on your app? It looks like there is another login on your account to try. You can also try to create a test login by following the steps in the video below.
  1. What model of iPhone is being used? 6 - on Verizon
  2. What IOS version are you running? 11.2.5
  3. Based on your original statement, are you seeing the error message as soon as you click to login on the credentials screen? I have “stay logged on” enabled with a pass-code. when this first occurred, I enter the pass-code and found the app was not logged in. When I try to enter the log-in information, I get the error message.

If I uninstall and reinstall the app, the very first time it will allow me to log in, after that first login, i get the error message.

  1. Did this start on the day this issue was originally posted, or did it occur prior at all?
It was occurring one or two days prior to when I posted the original request for assistance.

  2. Have you tried turning off 2-Factor Authentication under settings – login information? It looks like that is enabled for the login in question.

I disabled 2-factor Authentication and now the app works property. This has been enabled for some time, why has it suddenly quit working?

Thank you for confirming this. It would be good to test whether re-enabling 2 Factor will immediately cause the issue again. I would guess so but good to try it. If so, you can leave 2-factor disabled for the time being. We will inform Alarm.com of the issue and the phone and IOS versions you are on to develop a resolution.

As for the reason, likely an IOS or other update may have caused an issue. It is difficult to say definitively yet, but ADC may have more details for us in their reply. We will update here with any details.
