If it is waterproof (both sides, not just one side), it could be used on tall gates, as well as just house doors.

No it is a standard deadbolt and the interior portion is not designed for full outdoor exposure with a narrower operating temp and humidity range. The exterior portion has weatherproofing.
While a dedicated gate lock would be a great addition to the lineup given the range, the deadbolt is not designed for that.
Happy to suggest a full outdoor model.
