I have an ADT (Vista) panel that is too old (WA3001-1.3 | 2001 Rev 1.3 )to take over. As a result, I’m looking at replacing it with an IQ Panel 5 setup. The sensors are mainly wireless, so I plan to pick up the 345 MHz daughter card to take over the existing wireless sensors and go from there.
I have two questions:
1: Siren / Voice Driver
This system uses a voice/siren driver and speaker instead of a standard siren. From what I can infer, ADT basically re‑branded the Ademco 745VSD3 (or a very similar driver) as the “ADT Smart Voice.”
I found the manual for the Ademco 745VSD3 here:
Is there any way to integrate this into an IQ Panel 5 setup, even if not directly? While some people find these annoying, I’ve always appreciated immediately knowing why the alarm is going off.
2: Overall Approach
In general, while I’m pretty confident in going with the IQ Panel 5, is there anything else I should consider in my approach or a different direction you would recommend? Would it be worth investigating/upgrading the Vista system itself in order to make compatible with Alarm.com through a system enhancement module?
Approach 1:
It looks like the Fire/Burg is triggered by the voltage from the bell terminals and the CO is from a separate trigger. You can use a an IQ Hardwire PowerG PG9WLSHW8 with the IQ Panel 5 and use the bell outputs for burglar and fire and a PGM output to trigger the CO if you currently have any.
Approach 2:
This approach is the most cost effective depending on the amount of zone expander and keypads you have. You can purchase a newer Vista 20P and replace just the main panel but keep using all other keypads and zone expanders.
Is there anywhere that outlines the Alarm.com functionality that would or would not be available with Approach 2? Trying to understand any trade offs that may exist or lack of functionality.
For Approach 1, I’ve looked at the PG9WLSHW8 and believe I followed your suggestion correctly. You would wire the 745VSD3 to the bell terminals on the PG9WLSHW8? I didn’t understand how the CO portion would work.
Could you explain how I would use “a PGM output to trigger the CO”?
You are confident that if I invested in the PG9WLSHW8, in addition to the IQPanel 5, the 745VSD3 would operate as designed? Apologies for my lack of understanding.
Side note: For Fire & CO, I was planning to use the Firefighter 345MHz listener that supports both C02 and Fire detection.
