IQ5 Panel - Power / Ethernet Questions

I think I’m almost done spec’ing out / designing my system.

Today I have my panel connected via Ethernet and powering itself via POE. I also don’t have any AC power near the panel today.

Ideally I was going to want to do the same with the IQ5 - but I read there were some limitations for the Ethernet connection:

  • Live View with Alarm.com cameras at the panel is not supported with this integration
  • Firmware updates for the IQ Panel 4 must be done over Wi-Fi

are both of those limitations still present on the IQ5 panel?

Regarding power - I could just remove the Cat6 cable from my switch, remove the RJ45 head - and twist the wires up and plug it into the IQ5 transformer in my network rack.

Ideally I’d rather not do that - since I’d rather leave the Cat6 cable intact in the case that at some point ADC “fixes” those two limitations and I could switch to Cat6 without the limitations above.

I was considering using something like this:

In my case I just wouldn’t connect the ethernet cable to the panel. I would either plug the DC connector into the panel to power it - or use their small female plug to convert to screw terminals.

here were the spec’s I got from the manufacturer:

  • DC12V 1A power outputs

  • Dc barrel connector - DC output is DC5521

  • The power output terminal on Splitter POE-SP01P is a barrel connector with 5.5mm OD and 2.1mm ID, with outside negative and inside positive

does this connector / voltage / amperage sound like it would work for the IQ5 panel?

is there a more elegant solution to plug something into an ethernet / poe switch in order to deliver DC to the panel?

thanks!
