IQ4 Panel - Unresponsive/No LEDs/Blackscreen

Support,

I am trying to switch my service from ADT to Surety for an IQ Panel 4 in a home purchasing. That said, the IMEI is unlocked and I have purchased service through Suret and done the Alarm.com set ip, but I have an unresponsive black screen with no LED flashes at all. I feel it is important to share that the panel unplugged for a very long time, maybe one year, but has been plugged in using the 7V power supply for about a week. Today, as part of the Alarm.com set up I went to the panel and tried to turn it on. Here is what I know & observe:

Powering on with the power button led to no LED activity/flash no light coming from the screen.

Panel is unresponsive to holding the home/power button for 30 seconds.

Full power cycle disconnecting the battery for 5+ minutes, plugging it back in and holding the power button for 3 seconds still gives a blackscreen.

I disconnected the battery and power supply for 5 mins+ and did the following:

Unplug the battery, unplug the AC power.

Reconnect the battery only.

Insert AC power plug, wait 5 seconds and then remove.

Repeat this up to 10 times but the LEDs and the screen remained unresponsive.

Thanks in Advance!

Have you tested the power supply with a multimeter to be sure it is working? It is possible given your description that there is just no power reaching the panel for one reason or another.

Are you using the barrel connector or do you have the wires connected to the power terminals on the back plate?

Roughly how long is that power cable and what gauge wire is it?

Hi Jason,

I will test with a multimeter later today, but I am using the barrel connector. The wire used appears to be the one that comes with the panel, so whatever gauge that wire is would be the gauge uses.

Is the panel wall mounted? Where is the power supply in relation to the panel?

Jason,

The panel is mounted to the wall, the power supply is directly below it with the power cable having been fished up from inside the wall

Jason,

Is it possible that the battery is bad and needs to be replaced for the panel to work? I have disconnected the battery and connected the panel to the power supply, yet the panel remained dark/no LED activity.

You should see LED activity still. It is more likely an issue with the power supply given your description. Have you verified that outlet is able to power other devices? If not I would check that as well just in case it is the receptacle.

I have also seen issues where the barrel connector is plugged in but is a bit loose and not pushed in all the way. Double check that the barrel connector is firmly connected.

Jason,

Thank you for your help. After some testing with my multimeter the power supply checked out fine delivering 7.12v.

On a hunch I decided to purchase a new battery for the panel. Well, after putting the new battery into the panel and then reattaching the barrel connector from the wall the LED flashed red, then blue. Thus, the panel is online and working, so just keep in mind the battery can go bad and result in the entire panel no to power up, likely a way to regulate the current from the power supply or is some sort of failsafe to not operate without backup power.

You can consider my issue resolved.

Regards.

That’s interesting, even with the battery unplugged, holding the power button while plugged in should result in LED activity based on testing.

Glad to hear that you were able to resolve this issue. Thanks for the follow up, this should help other users in the future.
