Tonight I accidentally opened a window during arm status and set off the panel. I was shocked at how quiet it seemed. I also seem to recall it sounding differently on a previous system I had from surety. This was just a high pitch constant tone. Does this sound correct? Can the alarm volume be turned up or boosted in any way?

The IQ Hub is a 85dB Siren that produces a single tone. This may differ from previous panels you have had but the IQ Panel 4 series all have the same 85dB Siren. The volume and tone cannot be adjusted on the Siren, only on the speaker (for chime and voice annunciation).
You could incorporate an IQ Remote in another part of the home as this also has a built in siren and would trigger when the main panel triggers. You could also use an IQ Keypad via PowerG, it does not replicate the siren, but has its own unique tone for alarm, although it is not as loud as the main panel.

thank you for the quick reply. I like the idea of the keypad - we could put one in our upstairs bedroom. Do you happen to have an example of how it sounds?
I do not have an example of the sound but its a single pitch tone. You can control the volume on it, to a degree, but the IQ Keypad beep isn’t meant to be heard home wide but should be suitable for a normal sized room or entry way.
