I’m looking at the iq-smoke-detector but I already have connected smoke detectors throughout the house. Will this connect to them, too, so it will call the fire department when any one of them goes off?

No, the IQ Smoke Detector is a self contained smoke detector and will not act as a transmitter for other existing smoke detectors.
The Firefighter audio module linked in the prior post is designed for that purpose. It gets installed within 6 inches of one of your interconnected smoke detectors and transmits when they trigger an alarm. As long as all of your smoke detectors sound when one does, this is a good solution.
