IQ Remote Repeatedly Disconnecting

Hi! We have only had our system for about a month and in that time the remote panel repeatedly disconnects and has gone offline many times.

I have disconnected from our network, reconnected, and rebooted to no avail each time. I am usually able to get it to rediscover my main panel by manually entering the IP address for the main panel. That method appears to have stopped working, however, and this time, our remote has been down for an entire day.

We aren’t having any internet outages or power outages and both panels are always still connected to our network each time this happens. Our signal strength shows as excellent each time.

This actually started happening the very first time we set up the remote panel. At that point both the remote and the main were in the same room (while we were getting everything set up). It happened a few times while the main and remote were in the same room.Once I moved the remote to its intended location, it is still a persistent problem.

The main and the remote are on the same level of the house and there is no metal in between them, just one and a half rooms/down a hallway.

If someone could please let me know how to fix this so it doesn’t keep happening that would be great. Thank you!

This is common if you use the same SSID for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks, especially on mesh routers or others using band steering. The panels will not be able to connect if one gets switched to the other band.

You can instead use the AP mode on the Qolsys panel to connect the Remote to it.

Find AP mode on the panel under Settings > Advanced Settings > Installation > Devices > Wifi Devices > Access Point Settings. Use the panel wifi info as the network for the Remote to connect to.
