I installed a remote IQ-4 panel (IQ-PG i think is the model) about 2 weeks ago. It is plugged into an outlet that I know works and I pulled the clear tab out of the battery slot. For the first few days, the system operated normally. Within the past week, the low battery alert has been triggered about once a day. Each time, the battery charges up and I receive a notification that all is well.
Does anyone else experience this? Might I have a defective battery? Is there a software update that solves this?
thanks, ernie
It looks like you already have 4.5.1, 4.5.2 was actually just released, but I wouldn’t expect it to have an effect. Firmware update details are found here.
That sounds like the panel might be losing power intermittently. First make sure it is not plugged into a switched outlet. This can be a cause of similar behavior.
If the outlet is not switched, unplug the transformer and make sure the wires are secure and not loose. Make sure the barrel connector at the IQ Remote is fully pushed in.
Is it just plugged in nearby or was the wire extended? If so what gauge wire was used and how long is the wire?
Hi Jason, the area where the panel is located is vacant, so I don’t expect a switch to play a role. The transformer wires were not extended. Sadly, I am not able to visit the property and check the wire connections to the transformer or the barrel connection on the back until January.
I see some of those notifications today. They seem to occur and resolve quickly. It could be a bad battery or power application issue.

Just to be sure, are there any issues with temperature control or power at the location? Is the property under renovation? I see some power loss events from the main panel in the past but that may have been you working on it.
Oh, it’s a fully furnished and conditioned space, it’s just unoccupied right now. From time to time there are full property power outages - i haven’t been able to correlate the power losses to the battery issues.
I wonder if I reseat the battery if it’ll resolve.
Ok, just wanted to be sure, yeah it is likely a bad battery or a power issue with either loose plug or loose wire connection.
Did the battery tab come out clean? It’s more often with alarm sensors but I have seen those tabs rip when pulled out, which can leave a bit blocking a good battery connection.
