IQ Panel 5 WiFi Issues related to PMF

I recently installed an IQ Panel 5 and an IQ Remote PowerG.

The Remote has no issue connecting to my primary WiFi SSID (Orbi WiFi 7 mixed band mesh).

The main Panel 5 just says “Saved” on the same primary SSID. It will not connect. The only way to get it to connect is if I go to advanced settings and enable PMF (checked). I am then able to make a connection and it says “Connected”.

The issue is that the PMF setting doesn’t stick. It resets to disabled (unchecked) if I turn off the panel’s WiFi or if the panel reboots.

I do note that when turning on PMF, there is a note to “Please toggle the WiFi setting to make this change effective”. Alas, toggling the WiFi setting resets the PMF to disabled (unchecked).

I have to think this is a bug.

Interestingly, the panel connects to my 2.4Ghz IoT network fine, regardless of the PMF setting.

Any advice?

Qolsys was not able to replicate this issue so it does not seem to be a hardware issue. The only thing they were able to recommend was a power cycle by unplugging the transformer and battery for about 2 minutes.

Then connect the battery first followed by the transformer.

If this fails, then the next troubleshooting step is a master reset. This will clear codes, sensors, and panel programming from the panel. We can perform a backup and restore but all PowerG sensors will need to be tampered and secondary keypads will need to be learned in manually.

Let us know if you would like to proceed with a master reset

Thank you

We would need to perform a backup first before the master reset. Then, you would need to perform the master reset and then we would send the restore command.

This means you would only need to tamper your sensors to get them to register at the panel. Your secondary keypad would need to be learned back in manually on the pane.

Yes, this means it is not a software issue so it is possible this master reset can fix the issue.

Ok, please do the backup now.

Thanks.

The backup has been performed successfully.

To master reset, swipe down from the main screen > Settings > Advanced Settings > Dealer Code > Installation > Dealer Settings > Scroll down to master reset

Once it is complete, you can head to the main screen. DO NOT program anything on the panel.

The master reset is complete, and I’m at the welcome screen of the wizard.

Sorry for the delay, the command has been sent. It should take around 20 minuets for everything to go through. Then you can tamper the sensors and manually enroll your keypad.

Thanks.

The master reset seems to have solved the problem. The PMF option now sticks, and I am connected to my main WiFi network.

Perfect! Let us know if you have any additional questions
