IQ Panel 4 - Unresponsive / blackscreen

Hello,

I just got my IQ Panel 4 set up and have an unresponsive black screen with erratic LED flashes in all colors. About 1 week ago I performed the UI setup process and paired all of my sensors without issue. Once this was complete I turned off the panel to set up the 7V power supply in my attic. Last night I went to mount the panel and turn it on. Here is what I know & observe:

  • Powering on seemed to give all LED color/flash codes in a set sequence (fast green flashes, slow green flashes, green-blue flashes, red-blue flashes, blue flashes, red flashes, etc.)
  • Panel is unresponsive to holding the home/power button for 30 seconds. Erratic LED flashes continue uninterrupted.
  • Full power cycle disconnecting the battery for 5+ minutes, plugging it back in and holding the power button for 3 seconds still gives a black screen. LED colors/flashes can change, after a short time match the description above. I tried this twice last night.
  • I left it charging overnight and when I woke up this morning, the LEDs were flashing green in a long-short-pause and repeat pattern. A 30 second power button hold did not change green flash pattern and a full power cycle just brought it back to the original LED flash pattern (or one like it) with all colors, fast & slow flashes.
  • I’m using the original 7V power supply. Multi-meter reading is good.
  • Removing the panel from the wall gives red LED color flashes initially, but remains black screen, even with 30 second power button hold.

Is there anything else I should try?

Panel is urgently needed.
If the fastest way to get a working panel is to order another one and send this one back, I’m fine doing that. I might just need help transferring/mapping my account to the new one.

Thanks in Advance!

Are you using the included power cable, or an existing run? If an existing run, how long is the run and what gauge of wire?

Try powering up the panel with the battery disconnected. Any change?

One thing to try here, The panel battery is possibly deeply discharged:

  1. Unplug the battery, unplug the AC power.
  2. Reconnect the battery only.
  3. Insert AC power plug, wait 5 seconds and then remove.
Repeat this up to 10 times until the LEDs continually flash
Red indicating that the battery is charging.
  4. The LEDs may remain flashing for up to 30 mins while the
panel charges. The panel will fully boot once it receives
    sufficient charge

Yes it is possible to buy a panel ahead of time but troubleshooting needs to be done before we can issue any kind of RMA/Return label in the case of warranty replacement.

When troubleshooting, you may want to place your 24/7 professional monitoring account on Test Mode during troubleshooting to avoid any false dispatches.

You can do this by calling monitoring operators directly at 855-348-0367 or from the Professional Monitoring tab in the System Manager section of your Surety account.

Hi Tyler,
Thanks for the quick response.

Powering up the panel with the battery disconnected give black screen and no LED activity.

Following the 4 step process you recommended above 10 times (without touching the power button) gave black screen and zero LED activity.
Holding the power button 3 seconds afterward gave slow flashing red.
When I mounted it back on the wall, it flashed green long-short-pause & repeat.

Should I leave the panel unmounted and slow flashing red?

I’ll work on getting my account into Test Mode shortly.

Should I leave the panel unmounted and slow flashing red?

This should indicate a battery charge.

However, I have reached out to qolsys for any additional steps and if not to get the warranty process started.

Are you using the included power cable, or an existing run? If an existing run, how long is the run and what gauge of wire?

Got it. I’ll leave it unmounted and slow flashing red to see what happens after a few hours.
If no change, I’ll plan to order another panel today. Would you be able to help expedite shipping of this one?

I’m using the included power cable.

Note: red flashing is an irregular morse code

Thank you for the clarification. Still waiting on follow up from Qolsys at this juncture. As soon as we have heard back, I will follow up here.

Hi Tyler,

I have great news! After checking all polarities and reseating connections, the panel has a charge and is operational. Will continue to monitor.

Thanks for your help!
