IQ Panel 2 plus fire and freeze questions

I recently upgraded from a Vista 20p wireless system to the IQ Panel 2 plus. Moving over my legacy 345mhz Honeywell sensors was a breeze but now I would like to add some additional sensors now that I am monitored with Surety but have some questions that I’m hoping someone can help me out with!

1.) Fire - My home has a interconnected smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Is there a sensor available that I can connect to these alarms or a “listener” that can be placed next to one of them for fire monitoring (or some other option)? Also, if this sensor/listener is triggered, does that sound the sirens connected to the system as well, and if so, can you make it so the alarm siren does not sound?

2.) Freeze sensor - I see Qolsys offers a freeze sensor with thresholds 40 to 100 degrees, can those be adjusted? Also same questions as above, if the freeze sensor is tripped, does it sound the whole alarm siren or can you set it up just to notify you?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, this would engage the panel fire alarm siren when a potential fire is detected. You cannot disable the siren for specific fire alarm zones.

You can set up zones to instead be non-response types which would never cause an alarm and just be used for notification purposes, but in general I would strongly recommend against such a thing for a fire alarm. It also won’t potentially help with insurance discounts if it is not properly programmed as a fire sensor.

Your system would be compatible with PowerG, this sensor allows for configurable high and low thresholds.

You can use sensor group 25, which is a non-reporting group, which will send signals to Alarm.com that can trigger notifications, but not cause alarms or forward to the monitoring station.

Awesome thanks so much! Will put my order in!

One question I forgot to ask - if the smoke detector gets tripped by accident (say burnt popcorn), who would you delay the call out to give you time to silence the smoke detector?

A fire alarm signal will be forwarded immediately to the monitoring station. By default they will only reach out to two way voice and a premise phone number, if applicable, before dialing fire dispatch.

Optionally, you can request to have cell phones contacted prior to dispatch, which we would add as special instruction on your account. send us a private message if you would like that change made.

There is a fire verification setting, though if you only have one fire device reporting to the panel, like when you use the Firefighter, I wouldn’t recommend enabling it. It requires either two different fire devices reporting or one device to signal twice in a period of time. It is better for multiple reporting smoke detectors.
