IQ Panel 2 no sounds

The only sound that works is the siren via the test. I no longer get the sensor opening chimes that I used to get. I don’t hear the “ticking” sounds when pressing buttons on the panel itself anymore. No sounds when arming/disarming the panel. Master volume on the pulldown menu from the main page is not muted. All of the volume sliders under the settings are not muted. The checkboxes for enabling voice and all the other options are all enabled.

I have:

-Updated firmware to the latest

-Rebooted 5+ times

-Pulled the battery and AC power and waited 15 minutes before plugging it all back in.

-Paired a Bluetooth speaker and that would not make any of the sounds (checked the Bluetooth settings and the speaker should make chimes)

-Ensured that the sensors are showing as activating when I open a door.

-Tried every suggestion I could find on this forum.

I would assume the internal speakers aren’t broken because the Bluetooth speaker wouldn’t play sounds either. This started happening a few days ago for no apparent reason. I’m lost. Anyone have any other ideas?

Sound options are found in the following places:

  • The Sound slider in the settings tray.
  • The Sound page (Settings > Advanced Settings > Sound) Majority of options will be found here.
  • Voice Prompts and Chime types set on per sensor basis under Installation

What bluetooth speaker did you pair?

Do you know what day this occurred? Did you encounter any power outages or issues at that time?

Ive reached out to Qolsys to see if they have any suggestions here and I will follow up as soon as I can.

I have checked all of those setting and they are all on and volume up.

The Bluetooth speaker I tried was a Photive Hydra. It works to play music. I have others I can try as well. I assumed the bluetooth speaker was not the culprit.

It stopped working ~sept10. I don’t know the exact date. Nothing like a power outage or anything else abnormal stands out to me.

If anything, I can just try a factory reset but wanted to see if anyone had some bright ideas instead of starting over from scratch. Thanks

Did you update the firmware to latest as a part of troubleshooting, or were you already on 2.8.1?

Based on what has been done so far, it sounds like a software issue. The only resolution for that would be a Master Reset.

A backup can be pushed to the panel afterwards, one is on file from 9/21/2025. This would only include, Panel Programming, Security Sensor Programming, and User Codes.

Z-Wave devices, secondary panels, and 3rd party connections would noto be passed over.

I recently updated to the latest firmware for troubleshooting. My panel wasn’t auto updating like it should have been. I had tried all of the fixes before updating to the latest (because I thought I was on the latest as it should have been auto updating, but wasn’t) and then I tried all the fixes again while on the latest update. Nothing.

Can you try swiping down from the main page > Settings > Advanced Settings > Installer/Dealer Code > System Tests > Panel Test > Press run on Sirens

Does anything happen?

Master reset would be the next step

Siren works. Very well….

You can try an extended power cycle again, for 10+ minutes, but a Master Reset would be the next (last ) step here.

Let us know if you have any questions about the Master Reset process.

Still no luck with the sound coming back no matter what I try. I’m about to do a factory reset. How do I link surety account with active monitoring back to the panel after I factory reset it?

How do I link surety account with active monitoring back to the panel after I factory reset it?

Communication with monitoring and the Alarm.com account won’t be impacted by a factory reset, it will automatically resume communication.

Sensors would need to be relearned into the panel, as would any Z-wave devices.
