Interesting human doorbell behavior (VDB775)

I thought this was interesting and curious if others have seen the same…

I’ve had a video doorbell for years - Skybell, VDB750, and just upgraded it to the VDB775. Since upgrading, which has only been about 2 weeks, I’ve had three incidents where people are knocking and not using the doorbell!?

This is a minor problem because we are usually out by the pool, and we can’t hear the knock, but if they press it, a nice announcement plays on our Sonos speakers outside.

I finally asked the last person (pizza delivery guy) why he didn’t use the doorbell, and he said:

I saw the light flashing red and thought that meant I shouldn’t touch it ??

At that point I polled others I knew, including my niece who stopped by and she said she too was afraid of the red light but pressed it anyway.

I had enabled the Perimeter Guard light alert, which is the red light they were talking about.

So, to ensure people would actually press the button, I disabled the light alert.

I thought this was a crazy story and was curious if others have seen or heard of the same. I suppose we need to be psychologists as well when setting up this stuff! :joy:
