Image sensor false alarming

My porch motion sensor has been false alarming recently. Any ideas why?

What model of motion detector is it that is causing problems? If it is an Image Sensor, this is an indoor device.

You describe it as being on your porch. Is this a climate controlled space in any way? Or is this sensor outdoors?

If this is an indoor detector I would very strongly advise against trying to use an interior sensor in an exterior environment. Temperature, humidity, precipitation, insects, etc., will eventually cause a problem, sooner rather than later.

My porch [IS] motion sensor has been false alarming recently. Any ideas why?

The IS should not be outside or looking outside.

Its a passive infared lense (PIR), which means it simply takes a thermal “snapshot” image, if that image changes it activates

Shifting sunlight, reflections off glass, animals will change the “image”

Suggest you get yourself a VMD camera for outdoor, or live with the false alarming/shortened lifespan of the IS (if it is outdoor)

You can also reprogram the IS as an aux zone type (which will eliminate false alarms)
