I’m considering purchasing a Qolsys IQ Panel (likely the IQ Panel 4) directly from Surety, and I had a few questions about the process and potential limitations around monitoring.
If I purchase a Qolsys panel from Surety, are there any unforeseen challenges I should expect if I choose to use a local Alarm.com monitoring provider instead of Surety?
If I initially use Surety for monitoring and later decide to switch to a local provider (who also supports Alarm.com and the same Qolsys equipment), is there anything I should be aware of in terms of device compatibility, panel programming, or account migration?
I understand that panel unlocking or firmware versions may sometimes cause hiccups, so I’m trying to get a clear picture of what that transition might look like—just in case my long-term needs change.

Panels purchased from Surety are factory fresh and unregistered. We do not tie panels to our service or change any codes to lock you out of programming. You can purchase a panel from us and use it with another provider (so long as they allow this). You’ll want to confirm with them if they allow compatible equipment to be obtained elsewhere.
Panels purchased through Surety currently include a complimentary month of service. If this is not going to be used, please leave a note in the order notes field indicating so.
From our General Policies here, panel purchases include a 1-Year manufacturer’s warranty. Should the need arise, troubleshooting may need to be done with your local provider before the replacement process could begin.

Service is offered on a month to month basis and plans can be changed, or cancelled, at any time. Account cancellation can be scheduled via your Surety login.
Cancellation will delete the Alarm.com account but will not impact local panel programming. Once the Alarm.com account is deleted, the panel is released and can be tied to a new account.
