How to live stream video to the 2GIG Edge panel (Live View)

Alarm.com customers with a 2GIG EDGE security panel can view live streams from their compatible Alarm.com video cameras right on the panel’s screen.

Feature requirements

To stream live video from the panel, users will need:

  • Service package A service package that supports at least one video device.

  • Panel hardware The 2GIG EDGE must be connected to your router’s or access point’s Wi-Fi network.

    • The Doorbell Camera and the 2GIG EDGE panel must be connected to the exact same device’s Wi-Fi network (SSID) and band (i.e., 2.4 GHz).
  • Video camera At least one compatible Alarm.com video camera on the latest firmware, and connected to your Alarm.com account.

  • There is no limit to how may cameras on the account can be streamed to the panel.
    Wi-Fi For the best performance, verify that the video devices to be streamed meet their minimum network requirements.

Compatible with live stream and two-way audio on the panel

  • Indoor Fixed with IR (ADC-V520IR)
  • Indoor Fixed with IR (ADC-V522IR)
    • For two-way audio, it must be hardware version 0101 with firmware version IP8168-ALAM-0100b9+
  • 1080p Indoor Wi-Fi Camera (ADC-V523/523X)
  • 180° HD Camera/Wellcam (ADC-V622/ADC-V622-WELL)
  • 1080p Outdoor Wi-Fi Camera with Two-Way Audio (ADC-V724/724X)
  • Alarm.com Video Doorbell (ADC-VDB770)

    • When using a SkyBell Doorbell Camera, the Doorbell Camera and 2GIG EDGE must be on the same Wi-Fi network.

Set up live stream

Verify the panel is connected to the Wi-Fi network

To perform a Dual-Path test to test Wi-Fi connection using the panel:

  1. Tap Settings Gear .
  2. Enter the installer code.
  3. Tap System Tests .
  4. Tap Network Tests .
  5. Tap Start to initiate the test.
  6. If the test fails, verify the panel is connected to an active Wi-Fi.

Enable live stream to the panel

To enable live stream to the panel using the Alarm.com Website:

  1. Log into the Customer Website.
  2. Click Video .
  3. Click Settings .
  4. Click Stream Video to Security Panel Screen
  5. In View at the Panel , click to select each camera to view the live camera stream on the panel’s screen.
  6. Click Save . Allow a few minutes for the settings to save to the panel. The panel may need to be power cycled.

To enable live stream to the panel using the Alarm.com mobile app

  1. Log into the mobile app
  2. Tap Menu
  3. Tap Security System .
  4. Tap Settings Gear
  5. Tap Stream Video to Panel .
  6. Enable desired cameras.
  7. Tap Save . Allow a few minutes for the settings to save to the panel. The panel may need to be power cycled.

To stream live view on the panel:

  1. On the panel’s home screen, tap Smart Home .
  2. Tap Cameras or Doorbell to view the enabled video devices.
  3. Tap to select the camera to view.
  4. To view the live video stream from the selected camera, tap Play Icon
  5. To end the live video stream, tap X or Hangup Icon.

Features for devices that support Two-Way Audio

  • To talk through the camera, tap and hold Microphone
  • To adjust the audio coming from the camera, tap and drag the volume slider.
  • To end the live stream, tap Hangup Icon
  • Additionally, for doorbell cameras, the system can be disarmed from the live video on the panel.
    • To disarm the system, if the system is armed:
      a. Tap Lock Icon
      b. Tap > on where it states the current status of the security system (i.e. Arm Stay, Arm Away, or Disarmed ).
      c… Tap Disarm .
      d. Enter a user code to disarm the system.
    • If the system has Z-Wave locks, the locks can be unlocked/locked from the live video on the panel. To unlock/lock Z-Wave locks:
      a. Tap Lock Icon
      2. Tap > for the lock.
      3. Tap Unlock if the door is currently locked, or tap Lock if the door is currently unlocked.

Note : If the panel is armed while streaming live view on the panel, the screen exits the video stream and returns the panel to the arming screen. However, Z-Wave and other panel commands continue as normal without interrupting the live video stream on the panel.

Troubleshooting

Unable to view a list of live video cameras on the panel

If the you are unable to see a list of cameras on the panel screen, try the following steps.

  1. Verify the video camera settings are set up properly to allow authorization for streaming to the panel on the Alarm.com Website.
  2. Verify the video cameras are connected to the Wi-Fi network with internet access.
  3. Power cycle the panel.
    • Disarm panel
    • Unplug Power Supply from the wall
    • Open Panel and disconnect internal battery
    • Wait 2 mintues, then power up, battery first, followed by power supply
  4. Verify the panel is connected to the Wi-Fi network with internet access. Perform a Dual-Path test on the panel to test the Wi-Fi connection.
  5. Un-authorize and then re-authorize the cameras to show live stream to the panel using the Alarm.com Website.
  • To un-authorize and re-authorize live stream to panel:
    1. Log into the Customer Website.
    2. Click Video .
    3. Click Settings .
    4. Click Stream Video to Security Panel Screen .
    5. In View at the Panel , click to deselect each camera to disable it.
    6. Click Save .
    7. After disabling each camera, click to select each camera to re-enable for live camera streaming on the panel.
    8. Click Save . Allow a few minutes for the settings to save to the panel. The panel may need to be power cycled.
  1. Verify the panel is on the latest firmware version.
  2. Verify the camera is on the latest firmware version.

The panel’s live video screen reads *Video device not responding

If panel’s live video screen read Video device not responding, check power and network connection , try the following steps.

  1. Verify the IP cameras are communicating successfully with Alarm.com. To verify communication, test the video deviceby verifying live stream from the video device using the Alarm.com Website or mobile app.
    • If the Alarm.com Website or mobile app is unable to view live video, the camera is not properly connected to the internet. Try power cycling the camera and the router. Also, verify the video device’s location has a working internet connection.
  2. Power cycle the panel.
  3. Verify the panel is connected to the user’s access point Wi-Fi network with internet access. Perform a Dual-Path test on the panel to test the Wi-Fi connection.
  4. Test live view on the panel again.
