How to install IQ Mini on horizontal sliding windows

Hi I’m having issues figuring out how to install the IQ mini door/window sensor on my 12 basement windows. It seems like I can’t put the magnet/sensor on the frame because it would only trigger if you open one of the two sides of the window. Any help would be appreciated – thanks! (Two pics below)

So those windows slide open from both sides?

The S-line DW Mini may not be the best suited, or you may need two depending on dimensions. Often, though, a sensor and magnet can be placed in the middle where the two frames meet and lock, so that if either move it trips.

Sometimes this needs a smaller magnet and sensor. The RE122 Nanomax is probably the smallest compatible sensor and magnet I am aware of.

Yes they do open from both sides. I tried attaching the magnet in the middle where the two frames meet but it seems like it’s just slightly too big. The dimension of the magnet is just under 0.5" but it seems like I need one that’s 5/16"-6/16" at most (0.3125-0.375"). Would the 2GIG Thin Door/Window contact work? The magnet dimension is 0.312".

No, the 2GIG door contact is not compatible with the 319.5 mhz version of the IQ Panel (the version which uses the IQ S-Line sensors), and the magnet is not that much smaller.

The RE122 from Alula is a 319.5 sensor and has a magnet which is about 5/16 inch wide.

Got it. It seems like it’s out of stock on the Surety site though and I was hoping to get everything installed before the 30 day return window. Is there any other way I can get these?

We do not currently stock those due to lower demand, however they should be available from some online sources.
