How to disable garage door opener when armed

Is it possible to disable the garage door when the system is armed?

Can you explain a bit more what exactly you are trying to do?

Do you want to bypass a sensor when arming the system?

I have the Garage Door Integration option. I would like to prevent / disable the garage door opening when the Alarm is set. The vast majority of our false alarms are from opening the garage door when the alarm is set.

So not looking to intrude - but not sure if this helps.

I wanted to disable my garage door when I’m away on vacation.

I bought a Zooz Z-Wave Long Range Relay ZEN17 and wired it into my garage door opener. I’m using hubitat - so I have rule machine do a bunch of stuff when I leave on vacation including toggling that relay.

I’m not sure if Qolsys / ADC support this device, though.

I was thinking the same thing. The zen 16, 17 and 58 all work great in the IQ and Alarm.com. So this could be very possible. The real question would be the specific type of garage door opener. For example to lock out any remotes you’d likely need to trigger the ‘lock’ feature in the opener via some circuit manipulation. (Close or open a contact etc).

Op: what opener do you have, what type of alarm.com integration and what method are people using to accidentally open the door? (Push button, alarm.com command, wireless remote, etc?)

Also thinking about flow- how is this triggering your alarm? Do you have motions in the garage or contact sensors on the door itself? If you come in via the garage, how close is the nearest keypad?

(As @Fhtsnm said - pardon this intrusion in the thread. Some of us like integration challenges to solve lol! )

The garage door opener is a Liftmaster 98022. Which can be activated via alarm.com, wall button or car remotes. Not possible to disable with a power relay as the opener has battery backup.

Not a power relay… but some have a lock feature that can be enabled via connections to the control board or even through a modified wired or wireless controller.

Edit to add: I researched that model, unfortunately its lock feature only disables remotes. So keypads, wired controls, etc would still function even in lock mode.

Which methods do you want to disable when the system is armed? All of them?

All of them. I can’t think of a valid reason to open the garage door when the system is armed.

I would suspect emergency access would be a factor, and may be why lock mode on the Liftmaster 98022 blocks wireless rf controls but wired wall controls still can open the door. Lock mode also does not limit MyQ access from what I can find.

You can trigger lock mode on the wall controller, but I am not finding reference to the MyQ app having that option, it is likely not something ADC would have the ability to integrate directly.

I am happy to send feedback to ADC as a feature request in terms of remote app commands to open the door.
