How to add door garage MyQ to Alarm.com

I have the MyQ app working with my LiftMaster garage door. How can I connect to my Alarm.com account?

A Liftmaster MyQ Gateway can only be registered either through the MyQ app or through Alarm.com at any given time. To get started and add the gateway in Alarm.com, it would need to first be deleted from the MyQ app.

You can then get started by logging into the Alarm.com website and navigating to Settings > Manage Devices > Add Device.

I have given permission to Amazon to deliver packages inside my garage by opening my garage door. If I delete my opener from the MyQ app (which I think removes it from my MyQ account), wonā€™t that also remove the ability for Amazon to open my garage door?

Correct, Amazon Key integration is unfortunately not available if registered through Alarm.com.

I did this step (removed device from MyQ app). But then when I go to alarm.com, it only has genie or overhead door. No option for MyQ in alarm.com?

Use the website instead of the app. The MyQ option on the app has not been visible for a while, I have reported this to Alarm.com.

On the website, go to Settings > Manage Devices > Add Device.

ok, followed all directions - reset the hub, reconnected wifi to home, got green light, then on alarm.com get ā€˜registration was unsuccessful for this deviceā€™. Factory reset and try again?

Usually this is still a registration issue. Here are some chamberlain support steps regarding deletion of the gateway.

The gateway (or hub) is registered and deleted separately from doors in the app and the doors can be deleted without deleting the gateway, which is a common point of confusion.

Can you confirm?

Can I bring this thread back? I donā€™t have any ā€œDevicesā€ showing up in my MyQ app, and still canā€™t get this setup. I use the serial number on the main garage unit/head on ceiling.
I was never able to get the garage door connectedā€¦ it may not even have a WiFi connection. Is that a prerequisite to setting up on alarm.com?

Yes. It cannot be registered if it cannot communicate with Alarm.com. You would need to make sure the gateway has an internet connection. What model of MyQ devices do you have?

itā€™s a Liftmaster garage door opener with Wifi & MyQ. Looks like ā€œeliteā€ model with battery backup

Edit: All set!! I donā€™t know whyā€¦ but the 100th time was the charm.
For the record I have Eero had had 2g & 5g ON (forgot to go into ā€œlegacy modeā€) but did have WPA3 OFF. I used setup via my laptop rather than phone app.

Anyway - thanks
These instructions did it for me:

I currently have my garage doors linked to MyQ and understand Iā€™ll need to remove them from the MyQ app before adding them to Alarm.com.

Before I do that, I wanted to verify that Liftmaster/Chamberlain is still supported by Alarm.com. The app and website both show Genie and Overhead Door as the only options when trying to add a new garage door device.

Happy to assist!

myQ is still supported.

You will need the LiftMaster/Chamberlain myQ add-on ($1 /mo) in order to integrate. Changes to your service plan are made through the System Manager feature of your Surety account. This process can be done at anytime.

myQ integration is added through the Alarm.com mobile app only, not the Alarm.com website. You will need to remove the myQ devices from the native myQ app before you can integrate with Alarm.com.

Got it, thank you.

Jason - I just replaced all my Genie Openers with Liftmaster. The Genie wall mount was simply too unreliable and required re-calibration every 3 months.

I have to say I like the Liftmaster product a lot. I have 4 products - 2 98022 openers, 1 98032 opener and 1 video keypad. It seems all 4 of these devices are considered hubs which means I donā€™t need a MyQ hub and donā€™t currently have one.

I did have some questions on the Alarm.com integration:

  1. Does Alarm.com also integrate the MyQ Video Keypad into Alarm.com as a camera? or would it be orphaned in the MyQ app if I move across the garage door openers from the MyQ app to Alarm.com?

  2. If the video keypad cannot move to Alarm.com, is there an alternative model to have both apps working, where I keep the openers and keypad connected to MyQ but add a MyQ Smart Garage Control paired to Alarm.com to open and close the doors?

No, at this time MyQ integration is limited to the garage and gate controllers. MyQ video is not available through Alarm.com.

I donā€™t think a MyQ device can be registered to two gateways at once, and the same gateway cannot be registered to both MyQ and Alarm.com simultaneously. I donā€™t believe there is any way to do this. Z-wave garage controllers arenā€™t compatible with MyQ enabled controllers either as far as I am aware, the Linear Z-wave controller is incompatible with MyQ and Assurelink devices.

I understand I cannot connect a hub to both platforms.

But if i can connect a new ā€œMyQ Smart Garage controlā€ to Alarm.com, then I can use that as a ā€œremoteā€ to open and close the garage doors.

So effectively Alarm.com would be connected to the MyQ Smart Garage Control.

The Smart Garage Control would not control the doors via MyQ but rather control them via RF just like Homelink.

Would that possibly work?

The MyQ openers will be compatible with a Garage Hub, I think thatā€™s what you mean, like the 821LM, G0301, G0401, etc. right?

I was in the process of editing the previous post to say that might work, Iā€™m having trouble finding any confirmation though. I think even if it is a MyQ enabled device, using the wifi Hub just controls it via RF like it is a remote or fob so it is worth a try.

The hub is on sale at Amazon or $17. Will give it a shot and let you know.

I added the Smart Garage Control Hub to my Alarm.com account. However I canā€™t figure out how to access the control menu for it to also then add the door sensor and the programming sequence.

I was watching this video but it looks like he is using a dealer app to do it, and as a consumer I donā€™t think I have access to that App. When I use the Alarm.com website, I dont see any way to manage the smart garage control even though it is connected to my account. I donā€™t even see it in the list of devices.

I can see I can add an opener using the add devices menu, but it is the vertical sensor I canā€™t figure out how to add.
