iqpanel 4 with update 4.6.1
Hardwire-16F
System Sensor 2WTA-B wired smoke detectors
During installation and general testing I triggered the smoke alarm.
Silencing the panel was a small challenge because I hadn’t created any user’s yet and the panel was dissatisfied with default installer code, but I need to repeat this scenario to be sure. But before retesting I need to deal with the following issues that arose.
panel active list showed “smoke detector” with a modified-star-burst symbol for a long time. (Sorry for the screen reflection.)
after many hours panel active list became the unhelpful msg of " smoke detector(fire) ?"
after more hours (and in the middle of the night) the panel started beeping.
Probably was 2 quick beeps, moderate volume, repeat after 1 minute.
(I say “probably” because it was middle of the night and I didn’t take any notes.)
I powered off the panel and went back to sleep.
In morning I powered up the panel and active list is now empty.
The empty active list was the desired result, but obviously the journey was suboptimal and probably mostly wrong.
So how should I have neutralized the smoke alert in step 1? (And hopefully have prevented all that followed.)
What is the modified msg in step 2 trying to tell me?
What should I have done to resolve beeping in step 3? (Obviously my initial ideas in the middle of the night involved violent destruction of the panel.)
You can disable the smoke trouble beeps if needed by swiping down from the main screen > Settings > Advanced Settings > Master/Installer/Dealer Code > Sound > Fire and Life Safety Device trouble beeps can be enabled or disabled here.
It looks like the smoke was not resetting properly after the alarm. Was the red LED light on the smoke tested still red after disarming?
The best steps to try and fix this is delete it and try learning it in again.
You can delete the smoke by swiping down from the main screen > Settings > Advanced Settings > Dealer/Installer Code > Installation > Devices > Security Sensors > Delete/Replace sensor > Select the smoke and then delete.
Then add your 16F into learn mode(press and hold EOL Learn for about 1-2 seconds) > IQ Panel 4 into auto learn mode > Press the test button on the smoke detector.
The smoke should learn in. When disarming the system, only the master code and user codes will work. The installer and dealer codes will not disarm the system.
The question mark meant that the device was unreachable which is possible it could have been caused since it wasn’t resetting properly. The IQ Hardwire 16F did now show any troubles which is how it communicates to the panel.
Regarding:
“Then add your 16F into learn mode(press and hold EOL Learn for about 1-2 seconds) > IQ Panel 4 into auto learn mode > Press the test button on the smoke detector.”
After pressing test button the smoke detector will begin beeping and LED red.
Go finish auto-learn procedure at the iqPanel.
Then at 16F press EOL button to exit EOL mode and the smoke will stop beeping and LED will be green.
