My brother passed away and his alarm system is going off. beeping every few seconds and we can’t figure out how to turn it off. Please help!
If you don’t know the disarm code then you would need to turn it off. Disconnect wall power and the backup battery. What kind of system is it? Post a pic if you’re not sure.
she says that she doesn’t see a back up battery anywhere on this
That’s an IQ Panel 4. If you swipe down from the top there is a volume slider. I wonder if turning the volume down would stop it?
If not, there is a power button on the right side of it. You’re not supposed to turn off the panel with that but if this is a big problem then maybe use that? I’ve never used it. Not sure how long you have to hold it down.
The backup battery is inside so you’d have to remove the backplate to get to it.
Since it’s disarmed and there aren’t any trouble alerts, I wonder why it’s beeping? Another option would be to figure out why it’s beeping and fix that.
If you know the master code or installer code you can swipe down, pick Settings, then Advanced Settings, and there is a Power Down button. The default installer code is 2222 so if he didn’t change it that should work.
we did it! there were 2 things happening - the Carbon Monoxide detector battery was low so that started chirping. but there was a 2nd alarm from the system, and for now we just turned the volume down. we will work on addressing the issue after lunch
thanks - you’re a lamb!
