I am getting ready to add monitoring to my existing GC2. My homeowners insurance (State Farm) gives a discount for “monitored” systems. Discount is minimal, but it all helps!
Which package do I need to qualify for this? I assume it is the interactive Gold, with monitoring option? My insurance company needs a document validating the monitoring as well.
Also, I do a good amount of DIY and will on occasion need to power down the system. Is it a hassle, long phone wait , etc. to advise the monitoring company that I will be “going dark” for a while? For example in the last two months I have done two firmware upgrades to the GC2.

You would need 24/7 central station monitoring with either level of Alarm.com service. Insurance certificates can then be downloaded from your suretyDIY profile page.

No. You can call the central station number in your welcome email directly and place your system in test mode at any time with our operators. Test mode can be anywhere from an hour to 72 hours. You can likewise call in to take the account off of test mode early. Signals will still accrue and you can check these with the operators for signal confirmation purposes.
I usually don’t even call my system out for firmware updates (low batt and tamper supervisories), or even walk tests. I usually only call it out for Semi Annual Alarm testing (when I actually arm system, and set off/trigger alarms for every alarm sensor and life safety device. and verify proper signals are received by CS), or any other time I plan to set off the Alarms (like if I am programming).
As for State Farm, you only get a 6% discount off policy in 2016 (they went from 9% to 6% for the “home alert discount”)…so expect a total premium reduction of around $40 for a monitored Security and fire alarm system.
Ah, was told by IT we had maintenance earlier today. This should be accessible now. You can access your certificate per video instructions.
Previously I was able to download the pdf however the file was corrupted and could not be opened with Adobe SW.
It looks like a certificate was pulled prior to the account creation by data entry. No certificate would be available during this time and a “No service account” error would be shown. The components of the system must be verified after connecting to our service before the certificate is available.
Looking to get a certificate for my Insurance company, but I see nothing in my profile under subscriptions. Did I do something wrong when I registered with SuretyDIY? A I already had a SuretyCam account before I registered. Do I need to do something to link my SuretyDIY account to my alarm.com account to see my subscriptions and get a certificate?
Ah, I see. If you were a customer prior to our website updates, I will have customer service send an email with instructions on how to get set up and link your account to the online portal.
