I am doing some painting in my home and have taken down my smoke/heat detectors. They are showing fault. How do I disable them in the control panel without removing them completely?
Happy to help!
There is no way to temporarily disable or bypass a smoke detector. You can acknowledge the alerts via the panel (Security->Yellow Triangle !)
You could mark the zone type as “unused” in programming to stop the faults from appearing on the panel. This would need to be fixed when you are ready to remount the smokes and resume use.
However, this is not recommended, especially for fire sensors, as it is an easy step to forget. It would be best to acknowledge the alerts via the panel and simply reinstall the smokes when ready.
Sadly that did not work. Ten minutes later I get the fault again!!
If you are referring to the Yellow Triangle Alert at the panel, yes this will return until the underlying issue has been resolved.
Do you mean that marking the zone type as “Unused” and after exiting saving changes, the alert returns? Keep in mind you will need to do this for each zone, smoke and heat, for each smoke detector that was removed.
