Can anyone help. I have an unmonitored vivint alarm in the house with 2GIG panel. I’m getting smoke alarm battery low warnings every few hours on the panel. I have 2 hard wired firex smoke detectors and 1 battery operated smoke detector
I’ve put new batteries into the battery operated one and have got to the point where I have disconnected the hard wired detectors and still get this msg. Is there a way to remove the detectors from the alarm system? How do I stop these warnings on the panel?
Chances are it is not using a firefighter, so the hardwired ones would have no impact and are not likely tied to the system.
You cannot stop alerts from occurring without resolving the underlying issue - or deleting the sensor. Deleting the sensor would require access to the installer menu.
First thing to do is determine the model number of the wireless detector. Is it an SMKT2? If so, when changing batteries, leave the batteries out and the device un-powered for 60 seconds, then power back up and press the test button once.
The SMKT2 needs to remain powered down for a short bit before reinserting batteries otherwise the alert won’t clear.
I ended up taking the batteries out for a couple minutes and it seems like it worked. Wished I would have done that earlier, would have saved a lot of time and aggravation.
I kept assuming the hard wired ones were connected to the alarm.
Thanks for the reply!
