Help installing Qolsys IQ Panel 2 and Hardwire

For the sliding door, Are there any concerns about using one of the Qolsys recessed sensors? At this point, since my Hardwire 8-S was only replacing 3 hardwired sensors, and 2 of the sensors are experiencing erroneous tamper alerts, I’m probably just going to install all new wireless sensors. How far should the Qolsys wireless sensors be from the wired sensors so as not to cause any interference? Is a couple inches fine, or should I now place the wireless sensors at the top of the door, while the wired ones are almost at the bottom?

Also, is there a marketplace where I can resell my Hardwire 8-S and backup battery? They’re practically brand new and I’d rather not throw away $120+. I’d be happy just recovering half of that.

Wired sensors will not cause a problem for new wireless ones. They should be kept far enough apart that the magnets do not interact. 6 inches or so should be fine. Wouldn’t hurt to go farther.

For the sliding door you would just need to make sure that the sensor and magnet will line up appropriately and not be too far apart. If the sliding door has a lot of metal it may be better to use a surface contact instead of recessed.

ebay would probably be the best bet, but I would check the return policy of the vendor first, you may be able to return it.

Thanks Warren. When you say surface contact, do you mean like the one I’ve attached that’s currently on the sliding door? I’m worried the gap may be large enough that a flush mount magnet might not close the circuit consistently.

If that’s what you’re referring to, is there a surface contact magnet you recommend?

I mean a contact like the S-Line Mini DW. This is mounted to the surface of the door and frame, not the inside track like what appears to be in the photo.

Oh I see. I have some of those. I’m thinking my wife may want them to be hidden, but I’ll leave the option of the mini D/W mounted to the surface of the door and frame as an option.

As far as magnets go, will any suffice if I do decide to use the recessed sensor in the track?

The recessed wireless sensor comes with the magnet that should be used.
