Have the 2GIG panel and Guardline driveway alert. The driveway sensor is mounted several hundred feet from house. Would like some sort of trigger to our phones (alarm.com) when the driveway alert is triggered. Use the 12v relay in the receiver with some sort of device that would trigger the 2GIG alarm system? Would not want to be part of either alarm stay or alarm away - just want the notifications.
Is this possible?
Using a 12VDC input relay to switch a dry contact output would allow you to wire in a sensor with a wired input like a DW30 outdoor contact.
The issue would be distance. 2GIG’s stated open air range for their sensors is 350 feet. Functional effective range is less than that.
Depending on the exact measurement of the distance, you might have a hard time getting signals to the panel.
Only thing might have to get a repeater and place it in a attic or something and get a wireless outdoor sensor for it
I don’t think distance would be an issue. The Guardline receiver will be maybe 20 feet from the 2GIG panel inside the house. So if I understand correctly, I would hook up a DW30 (does not have to be outdoor sensor however as will be inside, so would any other sensor work) to the Guardline receiver and when the Guardline sensor (which is the unit several hundred feet away) triggers the Guardline receiver, it will then also activate the DW30 wired to the Guardline receiver, which in turn will trigger in the 2GIG panel and send me an alert.
So the follow up question - how do I alarm the system to either Alarm Stay or Alarm away without the DW30 wired to the Guardline receiver not setting off the alarm?
If the receiver is close to the panel then yes, you would be able to do that if you have a 12V relay that switches a dry contact NC output.
Wire the sensor to it, then you can program the zone as a Sensor Type 23 (No Response Type) which will allow you to have chimes and Alarm.com notifications but it would never trigger an alarm.
