Hello all! We moved into a home that has an existing system. It was a model home that was also used as the sub complex’s office. There’s a Qolsys IQ Panel 4 panel, 2 cameras, one door bell camera and a few sensors and motion detectors. However the party we got the home from did not physically work in that office and does not know the existing code to it. The system was previously being ran by ADT and we do not wish to use them for service however, they. have all the systems details and will only reset the code contingent on us getting service from them.
Now from my understanding, I can hard reset this panel. I would prefer not to do this as it will remove all the devices in the home and I’m still not 100% sure what all is connected to it. So I’m wondering if I get the IMEI number from the back of the panel - can alarm.com or surety reset the code remotely?
You will need at least one of the codes, either the master code, dealer code, or the installer code, to perform a cell test and jumpstart the communication between Alarm.com and the system. You would also need it to perform a master reset on the panel.
You can try the default codes of 1111, 2222, and 1234 to see if any of them let you access the panel settings.
Qolsys has reported that sometimes performing a power cycle will jumpstart that communication as well. Steps to perform one can be found here.
If you are able to get the system communicating, then you can reset the panel master code in Alarm.com under the Users section. The installer and dealer codes could then be reset using the System Manager section of your Surety.
You’ll also want to ensure that ADT has released the IMEI number. You can do so by entering the IMEI number in our Module Check Tool here. If it is still registered, you will need to reach out to them to have it unregistered.
Thanks for the reply! I’m a bit confused - Are you saying I need to sign up for service before I can see if the system is communicating with alarm.com? Not sure how I would see this in the user section without an account. Also how would I know that the communication your talking about has actually happened?
Yes, in order to try to connect to Alarm.com you would need to complete activation of a new Alarm.com account first.
Generally Qolsys panels have a good chance of being able to start communication without needing the codes ahead of time, however if you aren’t able to get it connected I am happy to then cancel and refund your purchase.
We cannot view any details or send any commands to the panel unless it is connected to an Alarm.com account under Surety.
