GC3: Screen does not respond to touch

Started a day ago. Two buttons on the right ("+" and “O”) work, but the screen is not responding to the the touch.

Panel can still be armed / disarmed using the phone (alarm). But not being able to control the panel using the panel’s screen is highly inconvenient.

(The screen shows things, but does not respond to touch. Almost feels like it is locked)

Hard reboot it (disconnect power/battery, then reconnect battery/power). May have simply encountered error/crashed.

I’m not seeing anything in your trouble conditions or history that would be indicative of this type of issue.

Are your Sensors operating as normal? It would appear so from your history.

There is no way to lock the panel screen to my knowledge for that length of time. You can lock the screen with the clean mode but that shouldn’t last much longer than 30 seconds.

As Riven suggested, a hard reboot is indeed a good course of action to take. You may want to contact the Central Monitoring station before doing so to place your account on test. This way you can test your sensors afterwards to ensure full functionality.

After completing this reboot (Unplug Power supply then Battery. Wait about 2 minutes then plug in the battery followed by power) are you able to use the screen as normal? You should also check the wiring from the terminal block to the power supply to ensure that nothing has come loose.

If it has returned to normal after the reboot please keep an eye on it and inform us if it locks up again.

thanks for the suggestions.

After I swiped the whole screen with a ridge of my palm [pressing firmly], almost like a “window cleaning” gesture, the panel went in to the arming mode (since I guess it started to work and the “arm” button is large so it was the first to respond). The screen started to work after that. Which leads me to believe it is sensitive to… dust maybe? although it is not dusty there.

Unplugging (power supply and battery) was my first hunch as well, but since the panel does not come off easily form the base, I did not want to break the little plastic locks for no good reason. Are there any video instructions on how to take the panel off the base properly?

If mounted on the wall correctly, remove the set screw and when you pull on the panel swing it slightly upward as though there was a hinge at the top of the panel.

You want the back plate to disconnect from the bottom by the set screw first. You should not use lots of force but it is more resilient than it might seem.

The top tabs, by the usb port, act like a hinge so when putting the back plate on, those go in first.
