I have a GC2 that has 20 RF devices connected to it, came with house.
I also have a Universal Devices ISY-994 with Z Wave and a lot of Insteon devices connected to it.
I would like to make the two controllers talk, specifically having the GC2 pass state information to the ISY, which could then use those RF devices as inputs. Ex: front door opens, RF sensor tells GC2, GC2 tells ISY, ISY turns on lights if it’s dark outside.
I can get the two controllers to ‘see’ each other, but not much else.
how do I go about figuring this out? thanks for your help
This is not really possible. The 345Mhz RF security sensor data/status is not communicated via Z-wave.
Do you currently have an alarm service provider? Without an Alarm.com account Z-wave rule creation on the panel is pretty limited. You can trigger scenes with rules, but the rule triggers are selected from a handful of pre-created options that cannot be configured. (the rule you suggested could not be done)
Through Alarm.com the suggested automation would just be saved and processed by the 2GIG Panel.
I understand that the sensors don’t communicate to the GC2 via Zwave. I was hoping that the GC2 would be able to communicate their state to the other controller via Zwave though.
I suppose I assumed that the GC2 is smarter than it is.
