I understand why automatic garage/gate closing isnt allowed and thus absent from rule making. I also understand that you do allow notification instead. However, a notification is easy to miss.
Is there any way to make it trigger a local alarm (no dispatch)?

This would not be possible with what you currently have. You would need to add a sensor to the garage door opener. This can be done with a track mount sensor and wireless sensor with auxiliary input like the one below
Thanks, Vidail. I don’t quite understand how this would help. That would be the same as trying to set the system to alarm x minutes after a door sensor is left open, which is not possible as far as I can tell. What am I missing?
To trigger the system even if it is just locally and not contact the monitoring station would require a security sensor on the overhead door.
The door sensor can be learned in regularly but can be set up as a no dispatch zone at the monitoring station.
Using the Liftmaster integration can only get you control of the door and notifications.

Scenario: I (or a family member) pull out of my garage and forget to lock-up and arm system. I also forget to close garage door.
Door Locks are no problem as they are set up to lock themselves after x minutes always
Garage Door is a huge problem because it could be a couple hours before I notice the notification (I am driving after all). So my garage is setting open with valuables in full street view for a couple hours.
If I come home at night and forget to close garage door and miss the notification (I am sleeping after all) then its a really huge problem because my garage door is open all night.
A garage door left open for me is serious enough to warrant an alarm at least (and preferably even a call from the monitoring center), but not serious enough to dispatch first responders (even if unable to reach me on the phone).
something that’s somewhat helpful on android: distinct sound for alarm.com app notifications and “repeat notifications” for alarm.com app. At least if I miss the first notification it’ll repeat every 3 minutes . . .
I spoke to alarm.com and the only way to have the garage door automatically close would be to have it close when the system is armed to either stay or away. There is no rule that can be created with alarm.com. The only other way is there are liftmaster button controls that have a built in timer to close option.
You all are fantastic! This gets me close to what I was hoping for.
As a new user, I’ve been really impressed with the whole system . . . support, hardware, software, and how easily it brings together non-native devices and services, including Z-Wave, 345 MHz, and cloud integrations like LiftMaster, Moen, and Lutron.
Much better and far more flexible than expected. I can’t wait to start integrating cameras into my system now . . . I’m sure you’ll continue to impress!
