Garage door or motion sensor in garage

I am looking for the best way to cover the built in garage. The doors between the garage and home are covered but I am debating between putting a tilt sensor or similar on the garage door or adding a pit/microwave motion sensor. It’s about 25-30’ long and 15’ wide with one overhead door. The PIR/microwave motion feels like the best option. I could be missing the obvious.

A PIR can work, but it depends on your climate and the model. I would recommend an outdoor specific model of motion detector since they are designed to work in a wider range of temperatures.

I usually recommend door sensors either way though. The PG9312 outdoor contact linked below can be used with its magnet, or it has a wired input so it can be used as a wireless transmitter for a wired garage contact.
