Garage door opener replacement

Hello,

Hello I currently have my opener connected to Alarm.com. I am having my garage door opener replaced with a new model opener that uses MyQ technology as well. If they wire in my 888LM I currently have to the new opener, will I have to re learn the setup or should it continue to work?

What is the make and model of the new opener?

LiftMaster 8165W

Are you currently using the 828LM internet gateway, plugged into your router?

It looks like that unit has MyQ and Wi-Fi built directly in to the opener which means you would not need the Internet Gateway (828LM).

You could add the LiftMaster 8165W directly into Alarm.com.

Yes I am using the gateway, that’s what confused me…I see what your saying now. I would remove the gateway and add the new system. Thank you

Yes that is correct. Since the new overhead unit has myq with built in wi-fi the 828 gateway is redundant.

Awesome thanks for the clarification Tyler!

Ok I had the new opener installed that has the integrated wifi and I was not able to use the old MYQ remote with the new opener. I now have to setup the new remote. Can I remove the old MYQ account from my river account or do you have to do it. Also is there a link you can send for setup, it has been awhile…thanks

Also if you have to remove the old garage account please do so for the “River” account.

Yes , only the dealer can remove MyQ gateways from the account. Commands have been sent to remove the old gateway at this time Please allow 5-10 minutes for those commands to process.

In order to add the new Gateway, please login to your Alarm.com account, navigate to Settings > Devices > Automation Devices > Add Liftmaster.

Tyler when you say add the new gateway, this one does not have a gateway, the unit itself is wifi enabled. Is the setup the same?

Yes. The instructions in Alarm.com will guide you through the process. You will need the MyQ serial number from the unit .

All good…Thank you Tyler
