I have the alarm.com app installed on my iphone. As of today, I am receiving notifications that the garage door is open when it is not. Before today, the garage door notifications (closed, open) were accurate. The wording of the erroneous notification is 7:44 am - GARAGE ROLLUP DOOR (Sensor 9) Sensor-Left-Open Restoral. That last word is not a typo.
Because I can’t rely on the notification, I have to turn it off. One of the reasons I went with alarm.com is to be notified when my garage door opens, so I hope there is a fix to this problem. My service provider told me that they have been getting other users with the same problem. They believe that the company is working on fixing this.
It appears this is not related to a suretyDIY subscription, so we would not be able to see any additional history on the account. For signal/communication questions you’ll want to contact your provider.
In general though there are a lot of different devices that might provide garage notifications. In order to be of assistance if you feel you have a device malfunctioning we would need to know the model number of the sensor you are using on the garage door.
However, the notification you are referring to is a Sensor left open notification. A left open notification that is created on an account will send a notification when a sensor is left open for an amount of time determined by the rule (2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, etc.,) and then when the sensor is closed again, a Restoral notification is sent to indicate that the sensor is no longer left open.
The left-open notification in your attached history page matches the sensor activity open/close events. Are you saying that the door did not open and close at those times?
The door opened and closed as indicated EXCEPT when the notification has the word “restoral” at the end. Maybe I am reading the notifications incorrectly. Should they be read as follows: “was left open” means the door is open. “Closed” means the door is closed. “Sensor-Left-Open-Restoral” means that the “left-open” condition was “restored”, that is, the door is now closed.
Regarding the sensor device, I don’t know the model number but it is a “standard” magnetic gap type of sensor that has worked fine for years. That is, it correctly notifies the system whenever it is activated by the small magnet part moving away from the larger part that contains the battery.
Thank you for clarifying that. I realize now that I just saw the words “Left-Open” and thought the door was open. I believe everything is functioning as it should be.
