I have been trying to add my doorbell for a week to the system, with lots of good advice. I created an Orbi IoT sub-network on an exclusive 2.4 Ghz channel. Adding through my iPhone app, the device sees the network and appears to add as doorbell is steady green. However, the pairing process stops at 4% and says “failure to add” but the doorbell light remains solid green. Anybody out there solved this one. I don’t usually give up but I’m close on this one.
Early advice from Surety asked me to upgrade my subscription to a new $5/month video analytics cost, which appears to have been done.
It looks like prior recommendation was to try adding that camera through the Alarm.com website on a pc/mac/laptop etc., in a web browser. Just to confirm, have you tried using a web browser yet or have you only been using the app?
This isn’t a random suggestion, I have seen a few times what appears to be trouble applying new firmware on the VDB770 and VDB750, which is part of the installation setup process depending on the firmware version of the camera currently.
In those cases, adding it through the website worked, the problem was specifically the setup through the app.
Can you give me the steps for adding through the app on my laptop. It’s intuitively obvious on the phone. I set the alarm back to default. It’s showing on my laptop but I don’t see the next step that pairs the doorbell with the 2.4 Ghz network.
How do I do that?
Certainly, login to Alarm.com.
Click on Video. Click Settings. Scroll down to Add New Camera, it will be at the bottom of the settings.
On the Add Camera page if you are on a laptop connected to the same 2.4Ghz IOT wifi network you mentioned you should see the doorbell as an option at the top, it will not be found by ADC if your laptop is on a different network than the camera. I would recommend connecting your laptop to that iot network you created to add the camera.
Either way, you can also manually add the MAC address of the camera there to try to add the camera instead.
It says my device has been added to an alternate account.
Can you see mac address: [removed]? I just added a linked network (home which is monitored when we’re away). Can’t see it anywhere.
I purchased this online and was told it was new in a house. Perhaps it was already registered? Can you free it up? It looks new.
I checked that MAC address and I can confirm that it reports as being registered to another dealer’s account. I can’t view details on the dealer or account.
That is odd that the app allowed you to begin the process, but that registration is definitely the issue. A camera can only be registered to one account at a time.
The only way for that camera to get deleted from its original account is for the original owner to delete it, or for their dealer to delete it. Other dealers cannot delete that registration, for security of devices.
