From Arm Stay to Arm Away on its own / Duress code test

  1. I sat my 2GIG Go!Control Panel GC2 to Arm Stay before going to bed; the system suddenly armed away by itself around 3:00 am. After looking around to see if everything was safe, I noticed there were no notifications in the main panel, TS1, or the app that would point to any issues. Even more strange, the Arm stay command was not even recorded in the log. We did notice the range and microwave’s clock was blinking, so it could’ve been a short power outage, but still it should’ve been tracked in the log as a loss of communication.

  2. What’s the function of the panel’s panic button; is it the same as entering the duress code? If I set my system to test mode, will I be able to test that functionality and the duress code without notifying the police (of course)?

Thank you in advance!

Do you have the panel battery connected? The system did not arm itself, but any time the panel reboots it will re-announce the current status. It will boot to the same status as when it powered down.

Loss of communication logs would not be listed if it did not last for the duration set in programming.

It is possible a power surge caused a reboot. We see the arming in your history, with no change to the status. The panel must be disarmed first to change the arming state from away to stay or stay to away.

Yes, they are essentially the same function. Panic is a quick press and hold that anyone can initiate should there be a need. The Duress user code on the panel is intended for hostage situations where you need to summon authorities without drawing attention to it.

Yes, you can test both of those if you place your account on test mode with the central station. They will log all signals but will not act.

The panel battery is connected, but when the system rebooted it announced it was Armed Away which was not the last command that was set at 10:45 pm. Somehow either after or before the short power outage, the system bypassed the arming state and just went from Armed stay to Armed Away. As you may imagine, we thought there was an intruder because of the time and the unusual and unexpected change of command. It sounds more like a glitch in the system.

Did your panel show “Armed Away” at the top?

My guess would be if it just announced “Away” is that it was a sound descriptor glitch with rebooting while the panel is armed. The panel cannot change arming states unless disarmed first. We will see if we can replicate at all on the same firmware and report back. I seem to remember hearing similar reports in the past.
